Police are appealing for witnesses as they investigate a reported hate crime on a train travelling to Telford Central. The incident took place shortly before 6pm on Tuesday, November 25, on a service running from Wolverhampton.

Officers say a man directed aggressive and threatening comments at another passenger, with the remarks linked to the victim’s disability. The situation escalated when the suspect attempted on two occasions to grab or assault the individual.

On both occasions, the man was prevented from carrying out the attack, first by a member of train staff and then by another passenger who intervened. Police believe there may be witnesses who either saw the incident unfold or overheard what was said.

British Transport Police are urging anyone with information to come forward to support their ongoing investigation. Anyone who can assist is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 735 of November 25. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
