Woman Dies at Bryn Station in Wigan, Lines Reopen After Emergency
A woman in her 30s was found dead at Bryn railway station in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan, on Friday evening, prompting an emergency response from police and paramedics. The incident occurred at around 6pm on December 19.
British Transport Police confirmed the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A spokesperson said: "The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Councillor Danny Fletcher, representing Ashton-in-Makerfield on Wigan Council, shared a message on Facebook, stating:
"British Transport Police are working on the case, whilst liaising with GMP. The station will reopen as soon as possible. The council will support in any way it can. Sending all my love to the person involved, and their family and friends. Give your families an extra tight hug tonight."
Rail services were temporarily suspended between Wigan North Western and Liverpool Lime Street while emergency teams attended the scene. Lines reopened, and services resumed by 9.15pm that evening.
