Birmingham Rail Lines Blocked After Trespass Incident Near Lea Hall
Trespassers on the railway in the Lea Hall area caused disruption between Birmingham International railway station and Birmingham New Street railway station earlier this evening, with all lines blocked while the incident was being dealt with.
At the time, train services running through the route were delayed or diverted as a result of the obstruction on the line.
The incident has now been resolved and lines have reopened. However, disruption is continuing while services recover, with residual delays expected until around 20:00.
CrossCountry had advised during the disruption that passengers affected by cancellations could use their tickets at no extra cost on the two CrossCountry services operating immediately before and after their booked train. Avanti offered similar advice.
Passengers are still being advised to check before travelling and allow extra time for their journeys while the timetable returns to normal.
