BTP Releases Image After Alleged Assault and Racist Abuse on Windrush Line
British Transport Police has released an image of two men it wants to identify following an alleged assault and racially aggravated abuse on board a Windrush Line train in south London.
The incident happened at around 8.45pm on Wednesday 18 March while the train was travelling between Surrey Quays railway station and Queens Road Peckham railway station.
Investigators say one man became involved in an argument with another passenger before allegedly striking him repeatedly around the head using a mobile phone. During the incident, a second man is alleged to have directed racist abuse towards a woman who attempted to intervene.
According to police, both men later left the train at Queens Road Peckham station.
British Transport Police has now issued a public appeal and says officers want to speak to the individuals pictured because they may hold information relevant to the investigation.
Anyone who recognises the men is being asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 834 of 18 March. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
