DRS Open Day Cancelled After Safety Concerns Force Late Decision

Organisers have confirmed that a planned open day event has been cancelled, citing concerns over delivery standards and evolving safety requirements.

The decision follows a series of planning discussions which concluded that the event could no longer be delivered to the level expected by attendees, including families and members of the local community. Changes to health and safety obligations were also identified as a key factor behind the move.

Despite preparations having already progressed, including ticket sales, organisers said the call to cancel had been difficult but necessary. They acknowledged the disruption this would cause to those who had planned to attend.

In a statement, organisers said:

“We’re disappointed to announce the cancellation of our upcoming open day. Following detailed planning meetings, it became clear we would no longer be able to deliver a successful event which met the expectations of our families, friends and communities, as well as changing health and safety obligations. The decision to cancel this year’s event, especially after tickets have been sold, has not been an easy one and we are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

We understand this will be very disappointing news, but when putting on public events of this kind, safety must always be the top priority. All tickets purchased for the event will be refunded via Eventbrite. Refunds will be processed automatically to the original method of payment, and you do not need to take any further action at this stage. Thank you for your understanding and support.”

Attendees who purchased tickets have been assured that refunds will be issued automatically through Eventbrite, with no action required on their part. Organisers have reiterated their appreciation for the public’s patience and support following the announcement.
