Emergency services attend fatal incident at Kirkham and Wesham station
Police have confirmed the death of a person on the railway near Kirkham following an emergency response earlier today.
Officers and paramedics were called to Kirkham and Wesham railway station at 9.18am on Wednesday, January 21, after a report was made of a casualty on the tracks. Emergency services attended the scene, but the individual was pronounced dead there.
North West Ambulance Service crews were among those deployed, however police have said there is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. A file will now be prepared and passed to the coroner.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said:
"Officers were called to Kirkham and Wesham railway station at 9.18am today (21 January) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
