Engineering Work Overruns Cause Morning Rail Disruption Across Multiple Routes

Passengers across several parts of the rail network are facing disruption this morning after engineering works overran at multiple locations, causing delays, cancellations and altered services.

Lines between London Paddington railway station and Heathrow Airport or Reading have now reopened following earlier overrunning engineering works. However, services are still recovering, with trains continuing to face delays of up to 30 minutes as operators work to restore normal timetables. Some services may also be cancelled or revised, with disruption expected to continue until around 11:00.

In Wales, overrunning engineering works between Tenby railway station and Pembroke Dock railway station mean the railway remains closed through the affected section. Train services are unable to run normally between the stations, with disruption expected to continue until midday.

Meanwhile, in the Bristol area, engineering works overrunning between Avonmouth railway station and Severn Beach railway station have closed the line, with trains unable to operate between the two stations. Disruption on the route is currently expected to continue until around 11:00.

Rail passengers travelling through any of the affected areas are being urged to check with their train operator before travelling due to the possibility of continued delays, cancellations and timetable alterations.
