Father’s Day Steam Special Announced for Llangollen and Corwen Railway
The Llangollen and Corwen Railway has unveiled a new Father’s Day experience, offering steam travel, traditional food and a pint in the Dee Valley.
The Father’s Day Ploughman’s Pint Special will run on Sunday 21 June, with two steam-hauled departures planned during the day at 12.20pm and 3.15pm.
Capacity will be limited to 60 passengers on each service, with the railway expecting strong demand for the new event.
Passengers will travel on a scenic return journey from Llangollen to Corwen aboard the railway’s heritage trains, taking in the views through the Dee Valley.
The experience includes a specially prepared Ploughman’s Lunch from Powell’s Pies of Whitchurch, a traditional family business known for its hand-raised pies and recipes passed down through four generations.
Tickets cost £40, while children can travel for £6. The price includes the return train journey, a complimentary pint from the railway’s Ales from Wales collection and a branded Llangollen Railway glass for passengers to take home.
A vegetarian option is also available, with passengers asked to request it at the time of purchase.
Jordan Edge, Catering Manager at the railway, said:
“We wanted to create something that felt relaxed, traditional and really good value for Father’s Day. Working with Powell’s Pies is a perfect fit for us because, like the railway, they are passionate about heritage, quality and keeping traditional skills alive. The Dee Valley is one of the most beautiful places in the country to enjoy a steam train journey, and adding fantastic local food and a pint makes this the ultimate Father’s Day treat.”
The railway is encouraging passengers to book early, with limited places available on both services.
