Weardale Railway Announces HST Running Day Between Stanhope and Bishop Auckland

The Weardale Railway is preparing to host its HST Running Day, with Romic Group’s HST set to operate special services between Stanhope and Bishop Auckland.

The event follows the mainline charter from Stanhope to Stratford-upon-Avon in June, with the HST now due to appear on the heritage line for a full day of passenger trips through Weardale.

Three return services will run across the day, giving visitors the chance to travel through the Weardale countryside and enjoy the route’s scenery, including multiple crossings over the River Wear.

First Class and Standard Class tickets are available, along with family tickets. All-day rover tickets will allow passengers to travel on every service operating during the HST Running Day.

The timetable has been planned to connect with Northern services arriving at and departing from Bishop Auckland, giving passengers the option of reaching the event by rail.
