Hull Trains Drivers Vote to Extend Strike Action for Six More Months
Train drivers at Hull Trains have voted to extend their ongoing industrial action, with strikes set to continue for a further six months following a new ballot.
Walkouts have been taking place since March 2025 after the union Aslef claimed one of its members was unfairly dismissed for raising a safety concern. The dispute has led to repeated disruption, with both sides maintaining sharply different accounts of the circumstances behind the dismissal.
Aslef said turnout in the ballot was high, with 90% of members eligible to vote taking part. Of those who returned a ballot, 95% supported continuing industrial action, giving the union a renewed mandate to press its case.
Hull Trains said the result was disappointing and reiterated that it does not accept the union’s claims. The operator said it has repeatedly put forward proposals aimed at bringing the dispute to an end and resolving the issue without further disruption to passengers.
A spokesperson for Hull Trains said:
"We remain committed to further, open dialogue to resolve this situation. The safety of our customers remains our number one priority."
The company has consistently stated that it has sought to find a solution to the dispute, while Aslef continues to argue that its member was treated unfairly, leaving no option but to continue strike action.
