Police have issued images of a man they want to identify as part of an investigation into a bicycle theft in West Sussex.

The incident took place at Hassocks railway station, where a bike was left secured to a rack at around 9am on Tuesday 3 March. When the owner returned at approximately 1pm, the bicycle had been stolen.

The stolen bike is described as a Trek mountain bike with a black frame, beige or brown tyre rims and distinctive purple detailing, with an estimated value of £1,000.

British Transport Police believes the man shown in the released images may have information that could assist the investigation. Officers are also keen to speak to him in connection with a separate incident involving the theft of an £800 Vitus bicycle from Burgess Hill railway station in February.

Anyone who recognises the man or has information that could help is asked to contact police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 2600028231. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
