Loose horse on tracks halts trains on Wolverhampton line
Train services were disrupted on Sunday morning after a horse was discovered wandering freely along a section of railway line in the West Midlands.
The animal was spotted on the tracks at Albrighton, on the route between Wolverhampton and Cosford, shortly after 10:00 GMT. For safety reasons, trains were unable to pass through the area while the situation was dealt with.
Rail traffic on the line was temporarily halted, with the blockage remaining in place for around half an hour. Services were able to resume at approximately 10:30 once the line was confirmed to be clear.
Network Rail staff attended the scene and safely removed the horse from the railway. The infrastructure operator later thanked passengers for their patience during the unexpected interruption to services.
