Major Disruption at Lancaster as Train Fault Blocks Lines
Rail passengers travelling through Lancaster are facing significant disruption after a train fault led to several lines being blocked in the area. The issue has resulted in cancellations, major delays of up to an hour, and alterations to planned services.
Engineers are at the scene working to resolve the problem, but disruption is expected to continue until at least 20:30.
Avanti West Coast has put contingency measures in place for affected customers. If a booked service is cancelled, tickets will be accepted on either of the two Avanti West Coast trains immediately before the scheduled departure or the two services immediately after. Passengers who decide not to travel because their train has been delayed or cancelled are entitled to apply for a full refund from their original point of purchase.
Northern has also confirmed that customers may board the next available Northern service to reach their destination, where capacity allows.
As recovery efforts continue, passengers are reminded that ticket acceptance and alternative travel arrangements may change at short notice. Travellers are advised to check with their operator before setting off.
