Rail services on the Midland Main Line have been severely disrupted after a person was struck by a train between West Hampstead Thameslink and St Albans City.

Emergency services were called to the scene and are currently carrying out their work on the railway. As a result, the line between the two stations has been closed.

The incident is affecting services running between London St Pancras International and Luton, with trains expected to be cancelled, delayed or revised while the situation is dealt with.

Network operators have warned passengers to expect major disruption throughout the rest of the day as services attempt to recover.

To assist affected passengers, both East Midlands Railway and Thameslink have put alternative ticket acceptance arrangements in place.

Passengers are being advised that these alternative travel arrangements may change or be withdrawn at short notice and should check with their chosen operator before starting their journey.
