Major WCML Rail Disruption After Object Caught In Wires Near Carnforth
Major disruption is expected on rail services through the Carnforth area after an object became caught in the overhead line equipment, blocking all lines.
The incident is affecting trains running between Lancaster and Oxenholme Lake District, with passengers warned that services may be delayed by up to 50 minutes, cancelled or revised while the problem is dealt with.
Avanti West Coast, Northern and TransPennine Express are all affected by the disruption. The issue has hit a key section of route used by long-distance and regional services, meaning knock-on delays and changes are possible throughout the day.
Alternative arrangements have been made by all three operators. These include ticket acceptance and the relaxing of some ticket restrictions, although passengers are being advised to check with their chosen train company before travelling.
Disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day, with passengers urged to allow extra time for journeys and check the latest service information before setting off.
