Man killed after being struck by train in early-morning Ogden incident
A 31-year-old man was killed early Wednesday after being struck by a train in Ogden, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police were called to the area near 3550 Pacific Avenue shortly before 5am following reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a train. Officers arriving at the scene found the man had been struck by a southbound freight service rather than a passenger train.
The Ogden Police Department confirmed the fatality in a statement issued later that day.
A statement from Ogden Police Department said:
"Upon arrival, officers located a 31-year-old male who had been struck by a southbound, non-passenger train. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene."
Investigators are now examining whether the man deliberately stepped into the path of the train. Police said his identity has been established, but his name is being withheld until his next of kin have been formally notified.
