MBTA Train Hits Stuck Car During Snowstorm, Police Investigate
A collision between an MBTA commuter rail train and a car stranded on the tracks during a snowstorm left two people seriously injured in the early hours of Monday morning.
MBTA Transit Police said the incident occurred at about 4 a.m. at Brighton Street, where a 2014 Avalon became stuck on the railway line as a train was approaching. The vehicle was unable to clear the tracks in time and was struck by the oncoming service.
Emergency crews attended the scene and extricated both the driver and a passenger from the vehicle. They were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, although officials confirmed their conditions were not considered life-threatening.
No further details have been released and the circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation by the MBTA Transit Police Department.
