Pembroke Dock Teen Jailed After Disrupting A1(M) and Railway
An 18-year-old from Pembroke Dock has been sentenced to 18 weeks in custody after admitting offences that disrupted both the strategic road network and railway services.
Jeylane Bamford, formerly of Britannia Drive, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 16, for sentencing. The court was told that on January 24, 2026, she entered a live lane of the A1(M) at Hatfield in Hertfordshire, interfering with the operation of key national infrastructure. The matter was brought under the Public Order Act 2023.
Magistrates heard that her actions posed a serious danger to motorists and led to significant disruption. In addition to the motorway incident, Bamford admitted a separate offence committed on January 14, 2026, at Cartlett railway station in Haverfordwest. On that occasion, she trespassed on the railway and obstructed an engine or carriage, contrary to the Malicious Damage Act 1861.
A further charge of intentionally or recklessly causing a public nuisance, relating to lying in the live carriageway of the A1(M), was also taken into consideration by the court.
The bench concluded that the seriousness of the offences, together with what it described as a disregard for public safety and the scale of disruption caused, meant that an immediate custodial sentence was unavoidable. Bamford was handed a total of 18 weeks’ imprisonment, with the sentences to run concurrently. No costs order was made due to her lack of means and the fact she was being sent straight to custody.
The case was heard by District Judge Alaw Harries, sitting with magistrates Dr S Hancock, Mr D Fawcett and Mr R John. Sian Vaughan prosecuted.
