Detectives are urging witnesses to come forward following a stabbing at Turkey Street station earlier this month.

The attack took place at around 5pm on Tuesday 10 February. Police say a boy crossed the tracks at the station before confronting the victim, who was standing with a group of friends on the opposite platform.

During the altercation, the victim was stabbed in the chest. The suspect then chased the group in the direction of the stairs, before returning to the platform, climbing down onto the tracks and leaving the station.

The injured boy was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been released on bail while further enquiries are carried out.

Investigators believe several members of the public were present at the station at the time and may have seen what happened. Officers say those witnesses could hold key information that would assist the investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could help is asked to text British Transport Police on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 524 of 10 February. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
