Person dies after being hit by train near Wrexham
A person has died after being struck by a train in north Wales, prompting a major emergency response and disruption to services on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred on the line between Wrexham General railway station and Chester railway station near Rossett, after reports of someone on the tracks at a level crossing.
Officers from the British Transport Police were called to the scene at around 10.50am, alongside paramedics. Despite their efforts, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious and confirmed that a file will be prepared for the coroner.
The incident led to disruption on the route while emergency services dealt with the situation, with services expected to have been affected in the surrounding area.
