Preston To Ormskirk Line Closed As Emergency Services Deal With Incident

Rail services between Preston and Ormskirk have been suspended while emergency services deal with an incident on the line.

All lines are currently closed, meaning trains are unable to run through the affected area while the response is ongoing.

Rail replacement transport has been requested to operate between Preston and Ormskirk in both directions as follows:

  • 22:35 from Preston to Ormskirk calling at Croston, Rufford, Burscough Junction and Ormskirk - Operated by Phantom Travel

  • 23:10 from Ormskirk to Preston calling at Burscough Junction, Rufford, Croston and Preston - Operated by Phantom Travel

Passengers using replacement road transport have been warned that journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes.

Northern has lifted ticket restrictions in the affected area during the disruption, including Advance and Peak restrictions. The operator says these restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption has ended.

Passengers planning to travel between Preston and Ormskirk are advised to allow extra time and check their journey before setting off.

Disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.
