Rail services halted between Hazel Grove and Buxton after points failure

A points failure has brought rail services to a standstill between Hazel Grove and Buxton, with all lines currently blocked.

As a result, trains operating between the two locations have been cancelled while engineers from Network Rail work on site to resolve the fault and restore normal operations.

Passengers are being warned that disruption is expected to continue until around 20:00, with services unable to run through the affected section until repairs are completed.

Northern has advised customers to travel on the next available service to their destination where possible, once routes begin to reopen.

In the meantime, ticket restrictions have been temporarily lifted across the impacted area. This includes Advance and Peak tickets, allowing greater flexibility for passengers during the disruption. Normal ticket conditions will be reinstated once services return to schedule.
