Snow forces Caledonian Sleeper to cancel multiple services
Heavy snowfall across northern Scotland has forced the closure of several rail routes, prompting Caledonian Sleeper to cancel a number of overnight services scheduled to run this evening.
The operator said the decision was taken due to the severity of the weather and the impact it is having on the rail network. While some sleeper services will still operate, they will run to an amended timetable because of planned engineering work elsewhere on the route.
Several services have been cancelled in full as a result of the disruption. These include trains between Inverness and London in both directions, Aberdeen and London in both directions, and Fort William and London in both directions.
Passengers who booked directly with Caledonian Sleeper will receive a full refund to their original payment card. Those who purchased tickets through third-party retailers have been advised to contact their point of purchase to arrange a refund.
Caledonian Sleeper has also confirmed that no alternative transport will be provided, citing the current road conditions caused by the severe winter weather.
