South Western Railway Passengers Face Long Delays After Tree Blocks Lines

All lines have reopened at Walton-on-Thames after an earlier tree blocking the railway caused major disruption on South Western Railway services.

Although the obstruction has now been cleared, services are still recovering and passengers travelling between Woking and Surbiton may continue to face cancellations, revised journeys or severe delays of up to 60 minutes.

Major disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.

A reduced service is currently operating on Long Distance and Mainline routes while the timetable recovers from the earlier blockage.

• Long Distance and Mainline Services: Trains to and from London Waterloo and Weymouth, Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Exeter St Davids and Alton are expected to be delayed, altered or cancelled through this station.

• Suburban Services: Stopping trains to and from London Waterloo and Woking are also expected to be delayed, altered or cancelled through this station.

South Western Railway has arranged extensive ticket acceptance, which is currently planned to remain in place until the end of service.

Passengers are being reminded that ticket acceptance and alternative arrangements can be withdrawn at short notice, and should always check with their operator before travelling.
