Taste of the North: New Seasonal Menu Rolls Out on TransPennine Express

Passengers travelling in First Class with TransPennine Express can expect a refreshed onboard dining experience this summer, as the operator introduces a new seasonal menu across routes in the North of England and Scotland.

The updated TransPennine Kitchen Coast to Coast and West Coast offerings aim to reflect both the time of year and the regions served, with a mix of lighter dishes and more substantial options designed to be enjoyed during the journey.

Among the headline additions is a Mexican smoky chipotle and black bean burrito bowl, drawing on street food influences and offering a bold, warming option for passengers. The dish forms part of a broader push to introduce more varied and contemporary flavours to the First Class menu.

On West Coast services, which link Manchester and Liverpool with Glasgow and Edinburgh, the new selection includes a prosciutto and Scottish goat’s cheese pizza, finished with a balsamic glaze. The menu also features a pairing of pies produced by Carlisle-based Pie Demand, combining pork and caramelised onion with cheese and chive for a more traditional offering.

Meanwhile, passengers travelling on Coast to Coast routes between Liverpool and Newcastle will find dishes such as chicken and Yorkshire chorizo jambalaya alongside a Yorkshire pasty, continuing the focus on regional influences.

The operator has also expanded its Express Plus menu, introducing hot food options on services between Newcastle and Edinburgh. Items now available include bacon rolls, crumpets, teacakes and ham and cheese toasties.

Andrew McClements, Customer Experience & Transformation Director at TransPennine Express, said:

“We’re proud to work with local suppliers across our network to bring high-quality, great-tasting food onboard. This new menu celebrates the communities we serve, combining fresh ingredients, regional partners and dishes that make our First Class experience even more enjoyable across the North and Scotland.”
