Train Services Halted After Person Hit By Train on Nottingham–Grantham Line
Rail services between Nottingham and Grantham have been suspended after a person was struck by a train, prompting the closure of all lines through the affected section. Emergency services are at the scene and trains are currently unable to run in either direction.
The incident is believed to have occurred in the Bingham area, bringing traffic on the route to a standstill. As a result, passengers are facing widespread disruption, with services cancelled, altered or delayed by up to an hour while the situation is dealt with.
Operators have warned that disruption is likely to continue until at least 16:00. Trains that would normally pass through the area are being held or terminated elsewhere and some Liverpool to Norwich services may be diverted away from the area.
Passengers are being advised to continue with their planned journeys where possible, but to expect delays of up to 60 minutes. East Midlands Trains said it is assessing alternative arrangements in an effort to keep customers moving during the disruption.
Travellers are being urged to check for the latest updates before setting out, as service changes may be introduced at short notice while emergency teams continue their work.
UPDATE:
All lines have now reopened. Disruption is still likely to continue as service recovery gets underway.
