All Lines Closed Between Bath Spa And Westbury After Road Vehicle Hits Bridge

Rail services between Bath Spa and Westbury are facing disruption after a road vehicle struck a bridge, forcing all lines through the area to close.

The incident is believed to have happened in the Limpley Stoke area. Network Rail will need to inspect the bridge to confirm it is safe before trains can resume using the route.

Any debris on or near the railway will also need to be cleared before services are able to return to normal.

Trains running through the affected section may be cancelled, delayed or revised while the incident is dealt with.

Replacement transport such as a buses, coaches or taxis, have been requested by Great Western Railway and they are awaiting confirmation

Passengers are being advised to check their journeys before travelling using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

Disruption is currently expected to continue until 8.30pm.
