All lines shut as emergency incident halts trains between Grantham and Doncaster
All rail services between Grantham and Doncaster have been suspended as emergency services respond to an incident on the line, resulting in widespread disruption for passengers. LNER have confirmed that a person has sadly been hit by a train and posted the following on X:
We are experiencing disruption between Doncaster and Retford due to a person being hit by a train. Trains are subject to delays, cancellations or alterations.
With all lines closed while the situation is dealt with, trains travelling between the two stations are facing delays of up to 60 minutes, with a number of services cancelled altogether. Operators have warned that major disruption is expected to continue for the rest of the day.
Temporary ticket acceptance arrangements have been put in place to help customers complete their journeys. Grand Central has confirmed that its tickets are being accepted by multiple other train operators.
Hull Trains have confirmed they are trying to source rail replacement transport but no timescale has been provided for this at the current time.
LNER has also introduced ticket acceptance across several operators and is in the process of sourcing rail replacement transport. The operator has advised that passengers may use their tickets at no additional cost on alternative train services up to two hours before or after the cancelled train, or on either of the two LNER services operating immediately before or after the affected service, whichever option is most suitable.
Passengers are being advised to check before travelling, as alternative ticketing arrangements can be withdrawn at short notice.
