Etchingham Station Attack: Witness Appeal After Man Assaulted by Group

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted by a group of teenagers at Etchingham railway station earlier this year.

The incident took place at around 6.15pm on Sunday 22 March, when a man in his 50s stepped in to assist railway staff in removing a group of eight teenagers from a train due to anti-social behaviour.

After leaving the train, the man made his way to the station car park, where he was followed by the group. He was then assaulted, with the teenagers also turning their attention to his vehicle.

The victim’s car was damaged during the incident, with wing mirrors kicked off and dents left in the bodywork.

Officers investigating the incident are now urging anyone who was either on the train or at the station at the time to come forward with information that could assist enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 2600039142. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
