Evening Rail Disruption in Glasgow After Person Struck by Train
Train services on a heavily used Glasgow route were brought to a halt this evening after a person was struck by a train, prompting the closure of all lines in the area.
The incident occurred between Pollokshields East and Mount Florida stations, where emergency services remain in attendance. As a result, trains have been unable to pass through the section, causing widespread disruption during the evening peak.
Services operating between Glasgow Central and Neilston, along with trains running to Newton in Lanarkshire, have been cancelled or altered. ScotRail has warned that disruption is expected to continue until at least 21.00.
In a service alert, ScotRail said:
“Because of a person being hit by a train between Pollokshields East and Mount Florida all lines are closed. Disruption is expected to last until around 20:30 today. Train services between Glasgow Central and Glasgow Central via Queens Park, Strathclyde will be cancelled or delayed. We are working closely with emergency services during this time and will keep you updated.”
The operator also issued a message on X advising passengers of ongoing changes to services while the incident is dealt with.
ScotRail posted:
“The emergency services are handling an incident between Pollokshields East and Mount Florida which means that services passing through these stations will be altered. We are working closely with the emergency services during this time. Please use our app for service updates.”
Passengers are being advised to check the latest information before travelling, with delays and cancellations continuing across the affected routes.
