Major London Rail Disruption After Person Hit by Train Between Three Bridges and Horsham
A serious incident on the railway caused major disruption to trains running to and from London earlier today after a person was hit by a train.
Emergency services responded to the incident between Three Bridges and Horsham, with all lines in the area closed while the situation was dealt with.
National Rail Enquiries posted on X:
No trains between Three Bridges and Horsham: major disruption until approximately 16:00. So that the emergency services can safely carry out their work, all lines between Three Bridges and Horsham have been closed. Trains running between these stations will be cancelled.
The disruption affected Southern and Thameslink services, with passengers facing cancellations, diversions and longer journey times.
Trains to and from Horsham via Gatwick Airport were cancelled or diverted, while services between London Victoria and Bognor Regis or Portsmouth Harbour were also affected.
Some trains were diverted via Worthing, while others terminated early or started from different stations as operators worked around the blocked route.
Passengers using alternative routes were warned that journeys could take at least 45 minutes longer than usual.
Rail users were advised to check before travelling and allow extra time while services recovered from the disruption.
