Person Dies After Being Hit by Train at Welwyn North Station
A person has died after being struck by a train at Welwyn North railway station, prompting an emergency response late on Wednesday evening.
British Transport Police said officers were called to the station at 9.43pm on January 29 after reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics attended alongside police, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will now be prepared for the coroner as part of the standard process following such incidents.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said:
"Officers were called to Welywyn North railway station at 9.43pm yesterday following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
