South London Rail Chaos After Person Hit By Train Near Penge West

Major disruption is affecting rail services in South London after a person was hit by a train between Penge West and East Croydon / West Croydon.

Emergency services are dealing with the incident and all lines in the affected area are currently closed.

Trains running between London Bridge / Canada Water and Crystal Palace / East Croydon / West Croydon may be cancelled, diverted, revised or severely delayed by up to 60 minutes.

Southern and Thameslink have warned passengers that they cannot currently guarantee journeys in the affected area can be completed by train. Anyone needing to travel is being advised to use an alternative route, although this is likely to increase journey times.

Alternative arrangements are being worked on to help passengers complete their journeys. For now, passengers should allow at least an extra 60 minutes, check before travelling and consider other available options.

Major disruption is expected to continue until at least 23:00.
