Detectives have issued an appeal for information following a reported sexual assault involving a passenger travelling through North Greenwich Underground station late last year.

The incident is said to have begun at around 10.45pm on Friday 21 November while a woman was waiting on the platform. Police say she was approached by a man who claimed he was from the Midlands, made comments about her appearance and asked a number of inappropriate questions.

Officers said the same individual later approached the woman again after she boarded a Jubilee Line service. During the journey, the man allegedly sexually assaulted her before leaving the train at Waterloo station.

As part of their investigation, detectives have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with enquiries. They are urging anyone who recognises him, or who may have information relevant to the incident, to come forward.

British Transport Police can be contacted by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 431 of 24 November. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
