Broken Down Train Shuts Westbury to Swindon Route via Melksham
A broken down train has closed the line between Westbury and Swindon via Melksham, with services on the route cancelled for the rest of the day.
The train used to operate the Westbury - Swindon services via Melksham has failed, and no replacement train is available. As a result, Melksham services will not run for the remainder of the day.
Disruption is expected to continue until the end of service.
Great Western Railway has set out a number of options for passengers affected by the cancellations:
• Option 1: Customers from Westbury and Trowbridge for Chippenham and Swindon are advised to travel to Bath Spa and change there for the next available train.
Customers from Swindon and Chippenham for Trowbridge and Westbury are advised to travel to Bath Spa and change there for the next available train.
• Option 2: Replacement transport provided by us is being arranged for customers travelling to and from Melksham, more information to follow.
• Option 3: If your train is cancelled, you may travel on either of the two services before, or two services after, your original train. If these are peak services or less flexible, you can still travel with your original ticket, at no extra cost.
• Option 4: Consider postponing your journey until our service returns to normal.
Passengers are being advised to check before travelling and consider the alternative options available while the route remains without a working train.
