Preston to Ormskirk Rail Line Closed Due To Emergency Incident
Rail services between Preston railway station and Ormskirk railway station have been suspended after emergency services responded to an incident on the line.
All routes through the affected section are currently blocked, with passengers facing cancellations, delays of up to an hour and alterations to services while the incident is dealt with. Disruption is expected to continue until at least 21:00.
Earlier, Northern posted the following update on X:
"Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Preston and Ormskirk the line is blocked. Train services running to and from these stations will be cancelled or delayed."
Train services are unable to operate in either direction between the two stations. However, Northern confirmed that services running between Blackpool North and Liverpool Lime Street railway station are not affected by the disruption.
Replacement road transport has now been arranged by Northern to operate in both directions for passengers travelling through the affected area.
Passengers are being advised to check before travelling as delays and further alterations remain possible while emergency crews continue working at the scene.
