Merseyrail Disruption: Person Struck by Train Closes Hooton–Chester Line
Rail services between Hooton and Chester have been suspended after a person was struck by a train, with emergency services attending the scene.
The disruption is affecting Merseyrail services operating in the area, including routes between Hooton and Chester and Chester circular services.
All lines through the affected section have been closed to allow safe access for response teams, meaning trains are currently unable to operate between the two stations. Services are being altered as a result, with widespread changes to normal timetables.
Passengers are being advised that trains will be revised, with some services unable to run as scheduled while the incident is dealt with.
A rail replacement bus service is in operation between Hooton and Chester and limited ticket acceptance is in place on alternative routes. Travellers are urged to check before setting off, as these arrangements may change at short notice.
Disruption is expected to continue until around 22:00.
