Two Arrested After Violence on Exeter to Copplestone Service

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and the victim of an assault on a train in Devon to come forward following an incident earlier this month.

The incident happened at around 4.30pm on Friday 1 May on a train travelling between Exeter St Davids railway station and Copplestone railway station.

According to investigators, two men began harassing two young women on board the service before another passenger stepped in. Police say the man was then assaulted by the pair.

British Transport Police officers later attended Eggesford railway station, where two men in their 40s were arrested on suspicion of assault and a Section 5 Public Order offence.

Both men have since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Police are now urging the victim, along with anyone who witnessed the incident, to come forward and assist the investigation.
